Interhemispheric Acute Subdural Hematomas
Dear Editor, Acute subdural hematoma (ASDH) is a neurosurgical emergency. Interhemispheric acute subdural hematomas have been reported infrequently in the past. They are usually considered to be a distinct entity because of their unusual location and the fact that their management is still a matter of debate. The most common sites for ASDH are the fronto-parietal convexities and the middle cran...
متن کاملClinical Features of Interhemispheric Subdural Hematomas
Objective Interhemispheric subdural hematoma (IHSDH) is uncommon, because of their unusual location. However, it is a distinct lesion with its unique characteristics. We investigated clinical features and outcomes of consecutive 42 patients with IHSDH, retrospectively. Methods From 2006 to 2015, we treated 105 patients with IHSDH. All patients were diagnosed by computed tomography (CT) or mag...
متن کاملAcute subdural hematomas: atypical CT findings.
Seventy-one patients with acute subdural hematomas were examined by CT within 72 hr of a documented head injury. Lesions often did not have the classical appearance of a homogeneous, high-density extracerebral collection of blood in a crescentic configuration. Specifically, 28 patients (39%) had mixed-density subdural hematomas (MDSDH) with various degrees of low-density blood within the subdur...
متن کاملInterhemispheric Acute Subdural Hematoma: A Distinct Entity of Subdural Hematoma
We wish to notify the readers on a rare case of interhemispheric acute subdural hematoma (ASH) who presented to our emergency department (ED) with a falx syndrome of contralateral hemiparesis in lower extremity and severe headache. A 25-year-old previously healthy man was involved in a traffic accident and presented to our ED with complaints of repeated vomiting and severe headache. On arrival ...
متن کاملConservative management outcomes of traumatic acute subdural hematomas.
BACKGROUND Traumatic brain injury represents a significant cause of mortality and permanent disability in the adult population. Acute subdural hematoma is one of the conditions most strongly associated with severe brain injury. Knowledge on the natural history of the illness and the outcomes of patients conservatively managed may help the neurosurgeon in the decision-making process. METHODS W...
متن کاملAcute isodense subdural hematomas: a problem in anemic patients.
Although numerous articles have appeared in the literature on chronic isodense subdural hematomas, acute isodense subdural hematomas have received little attention. An experimental model was developed that demonstrated that blood with reduced hemoglobin concentration, 8-10 g/dl, is isodense with the brain. Two anemic patients with acute isodense subdural hematomas are reported.
